Indian High Commission in Pakistan clarifies spouse of an official has tested negative

The Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Monday has clarified that an official’s spouse who was reported to have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Rapid Antigen Test, has now tested negative.

New Delhi: The Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Monday has clarified that an official’s spouse who was reported to have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Rapid Antigen Test, has now tested negative.

Taking to Twitter, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad said, "In response to media reports that spouse of an official of the Indian High Commission tested positive for Covid on RAT, it is clarified that said individual has tested negative for Covid on RT-PCR, conducted on arrival in Islamabad. RT-PCR in Lahore, as per reports, was also negative".

This comes after Pakistan earlier asked 12 officials of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to quarantine, along with their family members and drivers, after one of them reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 since their arrival from India last week, according to Pakistan's Foreign office.

Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said on Sunday that a group of 12 officials and their family members crossed over to Pakistan through the Wagah Border on Saturday (May 22).

Among which, a wife of an official tested positive on RAT conducted by Pakistan health officials, the spokesperson said on Sunday. Moreover, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad has been instructed to strictly follow the guidelines followed by the National Command and Operation Centre, Pakistan.

Pakistan's total number of confirmed coronavirus infections exceeded 900,000 on Sunday after the country reported 3,084 new cases in the last 24 hours. On Monday, NCOC said that the vaccine administered across Pakistan till 23rd May stands at 2,16,015 and the total vaccine administered till now in the country stands at 55,74,823.
