India registers significant recovery rate from COVID

Health Ministry officials said that increasing COVID-19 testing, prompt contact tracing and timely clinical management of the cases has reduced the positivity rate. Meanwhile, India has crossed 10 million COVID-19 testings on Monday with the total number of positive cases now at 6,97,413. The COVID-19 recovery rate also touched 60.86 per cent.

New Delhi: States and Union Territories like Assam, Karnataka, Puducherry, Chandigarh, Tripura, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Goa and Punjab have witnessed a significantly reduced positivity rate of COVID-19 cases against the national average of 6.73 per cent.

Health Ministry officials said that increasing testing, prompt contact tracing and timely clinical management of the cases has reduced the COVID-19 positivity rate in those states with less than 5.55 per cent.

Significantly, these states have also registered a significant jump in testing strategy with 9,090 to 44,129 tests per million population against the national average of 6,859 tests per million population. Union Territory of Delhi has witnessed 18,766 COVID-19 sample testing per day between July 1st to July 5th.

However, in spite significantly increased testing in Delhi, the positivity rate has seen a substantial decrease from about 30 per cent to 10 per cent in the last three weeks.

Meanwhile, India has crossed 10 million COVID-19 testings on Monday with the total number of positive cases now at 6,97,413.

The COVID-19 recovery rate also touched 60.86 per cent. In the past 24 hours, 1,80,596 samples were tested through 1, 105 COVID-19 testing labs across the country.

The Health Ministry has also asked the state governments to intensify the COVID-19 testing.

Significantly, India on Monday registered highest ever spike of COVID-19 cases with 24,248 with 425 new deaths reported from across the country.

The total number of fatality now is 19,693.

India registered 4,24,432 COVID-19 recovery cases till date taking the recovery percentage to 60.86.

In a related development, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) on Mondy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding separate cadre for healthcare professionals in line with IAS and IPS.

In a shocking incident, Tarun Sisodia, a Delhi based journalist of a Hindi daily died after he jumped off from the fourth floor of AIIMS trauma centre.

Reportedly, Sisodia was suffering from COVID-19 infection and was admitted to AIIMS a few days back.
