New Delhi: A day after Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain was admitted to a hospital following high fever, he has been tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. Jain testing positive is a serious concern among the top leadership as he had attended a series of meeting with Delhi Chief Minister and Union Ministers earlier.
In the early hours of Tuesday Jain was tested for the novel coronavirus infection and he was tested negative but today he has been tested positive for COVID-19.
During last week, Jain has been in meetings with the senior leadership of the Delhi government, including chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Jain had also attended a meeting on Sunday with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
After he tested positive, there is a greater concern at the Prime Minister's office, as Jain has attended a high-level meeting of the Union Home Ministry on 14 June.
He reached the home ministry sitting in the same vehicle with Chief Minister Kejriwal. Apart from Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and many officials were also present in this meeting.
On the same day, the Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister had also discussed with the Mayor and Commissioner of the three corporations on COVID situation. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had come to inspect the temporary hospital being constructed at Radhaswamy Satsang Bhawan in Chhattarpur.
The next day, on June 15, the Home Minister held an all-party meeting and he also visited Loknayak Hospital later.
Now the question arises that all ministers who attended the meeting with Jain will have to be quarantined or not? Will the health officials try to trace where he contracted the virus and who he has been in contact with. And, another major concern lingers is that what if he had infected others?
