Protesters change course, stopped again by police

After the standoff at Holy Family Hospital, the protesters changed their course towards the Sukhdev Vihar Metro Station.

However, the security personnel stationed there once again blocked the march, following which the protesters started raising slogans.

The protest by Jamia Coordination Committee is currently continuing near the Holy Family Hospital. They had called a protest march against CAA, NRC, and NPR, from Jamia to Parliament, but were stopped by security forces near the Hospital in Okhla. Police is requesting them to return to Gate 7 of Jamia

Hundreds pour onto Delhi streets against CAA-NRC

Hundreds of protesters, including students and civil society members, poured onto the streets in central Delhi protesting against the amended citizenship law and the National Register of Citizens.

The protesters, carrying placards and banners of all sizes and colours, converged at Mandi House around 11 am and started marching towards Jantar Mantar where they reached around 12.30 pm via Barakhamba Road and Tolstoy Road.

Children as young as 10, senior citizens, civil society members and university students filled the streets and ran the length of central Delhi, shouting anti-CAA and anti-government slogans.

A large number of police and paramilitary personnel walked along with them.

"The protesters do not have permission to take out a march, but as long as they maintain peace, we do not have a problem," a police official said.

The protest call was given by the Welfare Party of India.

The protesters, however, claimed that they had the permission and would march till Jantar Mantar.

Locals stage protest in Jamia Nagar against CAA-NRC

Scores of residents in Jamia Nagar staged a protest on Monday outside Jamia Millia Islamia against the CAA and NRC. 

The protesters led by Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC), a group comprising JMI students and alumni, plan to march to Parliament to raise their voice against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The protesters raised slogans like "Kagaz Nahi dikhayenge (we will not furnish our papers)".

New Delhi: Scores of protesters, including women and students, have gathered at Mandi House here for a protest march against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens.

Police said they had not given any permission to the protesters to march. The protesters, however, claimed that they had the permission and would march till Jantar Mantar. The protest call was given by the Welfare Party of India.

Siraj Talib, the national secretary of the Welfare Party of India, "We are protesting against the CAA and NRC. We have permission, I have spoken to police and we are marching towards Jantar Mantar."

There was a heavy deployment of police personnel in the area.
