EC to send official to probe alleged EVM manipulation in Assam

On the call of APCC president Ripun Bora, the Election commission of India is going to send some higher officials to put a check on the EVM manipulations. He also alleged that the ruling party in using sources to win the elections.

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) will send a high-level official to investigate into the allegations of EVM manipulation in Assam on Wednesday.

The decision was taken by the EC after the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora called on the EC here and registered a complaint against alleged EVM manipulation by the ruling government in the state.

Talking to ETV Bharat, APCC president Ripun Bora said that on April 28 at around 10:35 p.m. several trucks loaded with "unused EVMs" reached the office of deputy commissioner Kamrup (rural) located at Amingaon where there is a strong room of the used EVMs of a few LAC under Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency.
"We believe that the ruling party with the help of the district administration will try to replace the unused EVM with the used EVMs. Moreover, we demand the immediate transfer of the District Collector Kamrup (rural) and Mayuri Ojha (Assistant Commissioner, Kamrup), who happens to be the daughter of BJP candidates from Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, Queen Oja," said Ripun Bora.Bora expressed apprehensions that with these two officials in the counting centre's "there will be total partiality." He also submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission substantiating his allegations.


He alleged that the ruling BJP government in Assam is using money and muscle power to win the election.
