New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) will send a high-level official to investigate into the allegations of EVM manipulation in Assam on Wednesday.
The decision was taken by the EC after the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora called on the EC here and registered a complaint against alleged EVM manipulation by the ruling government in the state.
"We believe that the ruling party with the help of the district administration will try to replace the unused EVM with the used EVMs. Moreover, we demand the immediate transfer of the District Collector Kamrup (rural) and Mayuri Ojha (Assistant Commissioner, Kamrup), who happens to be the daughter of BJP candidates from Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, Queen Oja," said Ripun Bora.Bora expressed apprehensions that with these two officials in the counting centre's "there will be total partiality." He also submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission substantiating his allegations.
He alleged that the ruling BJP government in Assam is using money and muscle power to win the election.
