New Delhi: Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated in the nation's capital with great pomp and splendour. Ganpati Puja was also organized in the temple of Kotla Mubarakpur area, at which laddus are the main attraction, every year. This year 56,000 laddus were offered to Lord Ganesha.
The priest of the temple said that this puja is being conducted here for the last 24 years.
"Here in Kotla Mubarakpur, Ganapati is also called as the 'King of Kotla'. This temple attracts devotees not only from nearby but also from all over NCR and other states. Devotees believe that Bappa fulfils their every wish," added the priest.
Ganesh Chaturthi is ideally observed in the month of Bhadrapada, according to the Hindu calendar. It commences on the fourth day or Shukla Chaturthi, during the period of the waxing moon.
The date falls between months of August and September. The celebration lasts for almost ten days and ends on Anant Chaturdashi or fourteenth day, during the time of waxing moon. This grand and elaborate occasion is celebrated with immense joy throughout India.
