Delhi Police submits report to MHA over fight between cops, driver

Delhi police on Tuesday sent a report to the Union Home Ministry over Mukherjee Nagar incident in which three cops thrashed two men after their auto bumped into a police vehicle in Delhi. Police have blamed the auto driver for the incident saying that he attacked a police officer with a sword and injured another with the vehicle.

New Delhi: Delhi police on Tuesday sent a report to the Union Home Ministry over Mukherjee Nagar incident in which Delhi policemen thrashed the driver of a tempo and his son.

According to the home ministry sources, the report submitted by Delhi police holds 3 policemen guilty of unprofessional conduct.

It further mentions that two FIRs have been registered in this case, one against the cop and the other against the tempo driver.

"The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in plain clothes was praised for the way he tried to restrain the driver and his conduct was of international standards," said the home ministry sources after reading the report.

Earlier, Delhi police claimed that two of their men were injured in the attack. The tempo driver, however, alleged that he was attacked by the cops first.

The accident between a Gramin Sewa Tempo and a police vehicle occurred on Sunday evening in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, leading to an argument between the driver and a policeman.

The argument turned violent and videos of the altercation were shared widely on social media.
