Delhi metro hints of resuming operation from May 18

After a complete closure of 55 days, Delhi metro on Monday hinted to resume its services from May 18. The rail service has been closed after Prime Minister announced to observe 'Janta curfew' on March 22.

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), with a tweet, has hinted to resume its services after 55-days of shut down.

The country's largest metro rail service has come to a halt after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to observe "Janta Curfew" on March 22 in order to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

According to the sources, it can be operational from May 18, with some restrictions.

On Monday evening DMRC tweeted, "Specially trained housekeeping staffs are deployed in stations to clean passenger movement areas and associated equipment such as AFC gates, lifts and escalators to begin safe operations."

When ETV Bharat reached one of the stations, it has noticed that more than 200 employees are deployed to sanitise the whole metro station.

It seems DMRC leave no stone unturned in sanitising every corner of the station which can prove a possible virus carrier.
