New Delhi: The sequence of flight delays due to low visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital continued on Saturday.
According to airport sources, till 9:00 am today, more than 70 flights departing from IGI Airport were delayed (both domestic and international).
Due to bad weather, flight services have been badly affected. As a result, flights are running late than their scheduled time, causing difficulties to the passengers.
A passenger said, "We are going to Gangtok to celebrate New Year. But, the flight is delayed by two hours. we are facing problems due to delayed flights. On the other side, we are not getting correct information at the airport".
"The airport administration should take effective steps in this regard", he said.
It is pertinent to note that since the beginning of this week, air flights have been adversely affected due to fog and low visibility. passengers are facing problems for the sixth consecutive day of the week. Their flight is getting delayed by 2 hours to 8 hours.
Sometimes visibility on the airport runway becomes zero, sometimes 150, and often reaches 400. This condition persists from morning till noon. Due to which, passengers are facing a lot of problems at IGI Airport.
Passengers complain that due to flight delays they are being stopped at the checking point of the airport and are waiting outside in cold weather.
As per the Railway information, at least 30 trains including Jammu Tawi- New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Mumbai- Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani, Ayodhya Dham- Delhi Jn Express were delayed by hours. .
Meanwhile, amid harsh weather conditions across the Delhi-NCR, preparations for the Republic Day parade were in full swing at the Kartavya Path in the national capital.
