New Delhi: The Communist Party of India has written to the election commission demanding action against BJP President Amit Shah for violating the model code of conduct as he referred to the Indian Army as 'Narendra Modi's army' recently. In a conversation with ETV Bharat, CPI leader Dinesh Varshney said, "The election commission has clearly said that political parties are not allowed to use either the Balakot strike or any other strike during the election campaign as it tantamounts to bypassing the integrity of the Armed Forces towards the nation."

He further added, "Amit Shah saying that Modiji sent his Air Force for the Balakot strikes is a violation of the Model code of conduct and action must be taken by the Election commission against him." "The armed forces do not belong to one political party. Previously in the Churu elections, Modiji used photographs of the Pulwama martyrs at the backdrop of the rally which is highly condemnable as one should not politicise the armed forces for their petty political gains, he said."

The CPI has also been vociferously critical of BJP candidate from the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur who was one of the prime accused in the Malegaon blast of 2008. Speaking on the matter Varshney said that the EC should have debarred her from contesting the elections."First of all, she hasn't been acquitted but is out on a bail on health grounds, yet she is fighting the elections. She is a terrorist and she must be kept behind the bars and her nomination should be cancelled."

Taking a jibe at Yogi Adityanath, Varshney said that a man in a bhagva attire is ruling the state of UP and that the BJP is trying to make this country a theocratic state. Also, he further went on to say that Modiji and Amit Shah are polarizing the elections on communal lines to divert the attention of the masses from the key issues of farmers and unemployment.

Speaking to ETV Bharat on the issue, CPI leader Dinesh Varshney said " the election commission Hike clearly told the political parties that arm forces on the below code strike cannot be used during the election campaign. Using their name to garner votes would be an insult to the integrity of the Army". He further added " even if the PM talking about the surgical strike, it was still fine but Amit Shah, the BJP President talking about the Indian Army as Modi ji is army is not acceptable. The armed forces do not belong to one political party. Last time in the Churu elections too they tried to use the Martyrs to canvass votes and that's why our Secretary General Sudhakar Reddy has written to the Election Commission of India against Shah".

Her statements on a man of integrity like Hemant Karkare shows her mentality and even 13 former DGPs have written to the election commission to cancel her nomination" the CPI leader said.
