New Delhi: More than a week after the capital's worst religious riots in decades, violence has mostly abated. But, hundreds of wounded are yet to be healed.
In such an incident, the rioters not only looted a visually impaired man's shop but also set fire to it. Now, he is helpless. That shop was the only means of running his house, which has also been ended by the rioters.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Hafiz Muhammad Aslam said,"My wife used to work in my shop near Kachi Khajuri area. When the riots started on 24 February, she was there. They (rioters) started beating people with rods and sticks, she ran away from there. After two days we came to know that the rioters not only robbed my shop but also set fire to it."
Notably, the violence broke out 23 February evening after pro- and anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protesters clashed.
The clashes carried on for three days, with mobs armed with stones, sticks and rods running amok in Northeast Delhi.
