New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Broadcasting Prakash Javdekar on Saturday said that his party does not need any BJP candidate for the upcoming New Delhi elections and expressed his hope that voters in the capital will remove Aam Aadmi Party from the power.

Javdekar who has been spearheading the Delhi elections as the BJP in-charge has claimed that people had lost their hopes with AAP as Arvind Kejriwal failed to deliver what he had promised earlier.

"Delhi voters are looking for a proper, development, and honest government. As our PM Narendra Modi has been delivering growth based governance in the centre, undoubtedly Delhi people will give us a mandate in the upcoming elections, "Javdekar told the media at his residence in Kushak Marg.

When asked why the BJP has not announced its CM candidate for Delhi elections, he said that the party need not any CM face to take this election.

"In the past, we have won and lost elections by announcing the CM candidate. In Delhi, we don't want to put a CM candidate. Our policies and PM's achievements in the centre would draw Delhi people towards us," the Minister pointed out.

He also accused AAP and Congress of misleading people in connection with the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"CAA protests will not make any impact in the Delhi election. In a democracy, everyone has their rights to protest. However, people are being misled by Congress and AAP that CAA will take away their citizenships. I promise that CAA will not remove anyone's citizenship status. It was brought to help the people who have faced violence in the name of religion in Pakistan and Bangladesh," he added.

Javdekar further added that people are disappointed with AAP government as it has not allowed Union Government's Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme, PM's Awas Yojana Housing Scheme, and PM Kisan Yojana for farmers.

"AAP should understand that concessions will not work out to attract votes. AAP had delivered worst governance to people by avoiding several union government’s schemes in New Delhi. So, people lost their hope with AAP," he noted.

The Union Minister also said BJP leaders are visiting every booth for meeting voters. "We have planned to do 10000 meetings. PM has already done a rally in Delhi, and he may go for a couple of rallies which will be confirmed shortly" Javdekar explained the strategies of BJP.

Adding to this, he claimed the South Indians reside in the capital city will be voting in favour of the BJP.

"South Indians have contributed much to the development of Delhi. They expect an honest government in the capital that BJP will deliver," he noted.

The Minister also assured that clean tap water would be given to everyone in the next five years in the country.

"In the last term, our PM had promised to make India as an Open Defecation Free Country (ODF). We have achieved the goal. Now, Modi wants to connect every house with clean tap water facility which the BJP government will achieve in the next five years," Javdekar promised.

He also charged the Congress party that "they have looted the economy of the country."

"It was only during P Chidambaram's regime as FM, they have looted the economy left, right and centre which we are sorting out now," Javdekar charged.
