New Delhi: Ending the speculations regarding Priyanka Gandhi to contest elections from Varanasi, against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress party announced the name of Ajay Rai as its candidate from the seat, on Thursday. Over this decision, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley showed his "disappointment" via his tweet.
Replying to his tweet, the Congress party said that it shows that they were scared, about Priyanka Gandhi, in Varanasi.
While addressing the media, Rajeev Shukla said, "Priyanka Gandhi was very clear about her statements from day one. She answered the question raised by the media that she would definitely like to contest elections from Varanasi but the final call will be taken by the party's core committee."
After Congress announced Ajay Rai as their candidate from Varanasi, Arun Jaitley said in his tweet, "Deeply disappointed with the Congress party's decision of not fielding Priyanka Gandhi from Varanasi.
