Bankrupt businessman jumps before Delhi Metro

A businessman, who had recently suffered losses in his enterprise, attempted to commit suicide by jumping before the Delhi Metro. He suffered injuries to his right leg and is undergoing treatment, police had said.

New Delhi: A 32-year-old businessman, who recently suffered losses in his enterprise, on Friday attempted to commit suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train, a police officer said.

Around 1 pm, Sanant Goel, a resident of Panchkula near Chandigarh, jumped before a Metro train in West Delhi's Tikri Kalan station.

Goel said he had been depressed for some days over his business suffering heavy losses. He had come to Delhi to meet his sister.

"He suffered an injury to the right leg and is undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital," said Delhi Police Additional PRO, Anil Mittal.
