New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) to be on high alert in view of the India and China border tensions at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Several companies of SSB have been rushed to the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh and India-Nepal border as well, sources said. According to an MHA source, intelligence agencies have shared inputs on possible trouble at the tri-junction areas in Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
The Sikkim tri-junction area, where territories of India, China and Tibet meet, is considered a crucial area. Notably, these decisions were taken during a high-level meeting attended by the Secretary of the Border Management, MHA and the officials of SSB and ITBP.

The patrolling of paramilitary forces have been increased at the borders adjoining China. Forces guarding Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Sikkim borders have been asked to remain on high alert. As per the sources, as many as 80 companies of troops have been rushed to tri-junction areas in Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
Meanwhile, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravne on Thursday reached Leh as part of a two-day visit to review the ongoing security situation along the Line of Actual Control in the region. The visit comes in the backdrop of the fresh skirmishes between India and China at Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh.
