New Delhi: Days after coming to the power for the second term, the BJP Government at the Centre has promoted National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval to the rank of Cabinet Minister for a term of five years.
The decision was taken by looking after Doval's track record in national security. Doval was the man who strategized the surgical and air strike by army and airforce after Uri and Pulwama attack.
NSA Doval is recognized as the second powerful man in India. He met Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday after the Government took the decision.
The development further indicates that Prime Minister Modi, BJP president, and Home Minister Amit Shah and Doval are on the same track and they are working on the same agenda as far as India's security is concerned.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment with effect from May 31, 2019, it said.
His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister.
"During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister," the order said.
Doval was appointed as the NSA in May 2014 in the rank of Minister of State.
