New Delhi: About 5,000 nurses at AIIMS Delhi are on a hunger strike on Monday which affected emergency services at the hospital.
Neither the government nor the AIIMS administration have catered to our demands therefore forcing us to go on a strike, they said.
Talking to ETV Bharat, president of Nurses' Union Harish Kumar said, "Employees at AIIMS are not getting the housing facilities and adequate wages they deserve from the past three years."
"The Nurses' Union is on a Satyagraha since the last 10 days," he added.
He further informed that the union mailed the administration five to six times, but their indifference forced us to go on a hunger strike.
Accusing the central government of attitude, Deepika, who is a nurse at Delhi AIIMS said, "We are not making any inappropriate demands and the government should pay heed to them. If not, we will continue our hunger strike."
The members of the Nurses’ Union are demanding higher wages and better facilities. If not fulfilled, they will continue their hunger strike.
