New Delhi: India's biggest 10000 bedded Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre and Hospital in New Delhi's Chhatarpur area on Sunday admitted the first corona positive patient, a 35-year-old woman from Delhi.
Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal inaugurated the facility along with SS Deswal, DG ITBP. Following the inauguration, this largest 10,000 bedded capacity facility starts admitting covid19 patient from today.
In big support in the fight against Covid-19 in Delhi, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has started the operations at COVID Care Centre.
After successfully running the largest quarantine facility of India in the initial days of Corona spread and later managing and treating Covid19 infected serving and retired CAPF personnel and their families at the 200 bedded CAPFs and AR Referral Hospital, Greater Noida, the ITBP on Sunday started services at this Centre.
Adequate arrangements have been made by the ITBP at the centre including security, reception, call centre, nursing stations, command control stores, maintenance staff etc. The robust admission and monitoring system has been prepared as ‘e-Hospital’ by the ITBP.
E Vehicles and ambulances are also deployed for facilitating the move of patients inside the centre. Last week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, MoS (Home) G Kishan Reddy, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Home Secretary had inspected the facility.
The Home Minister had congratulated the ITBP for the swift response to create the facility. The ITBP was chosen to operate the facility in view of its immense experience in the fight against Corona since it's outbreak in the Country.
The total bed capacity at the centre will go up to more than 10,200. It's also the largest such facility envisaged worldwide.
More than 1,000 Doctors, Nurses and Paramedic Staff of ITBP and other CAPFs and 1000 more paramedical, assistant and security staff have been deployed at the facility to operate it smoothly.
The centre will have two segments- COVID Care Centre (CCC), where asymptomatic positive cases will be treated, and Dedicated COVID Health Care (DCHC). The CCC will have 90 per cent beds while DCHC will have 10 per cent beds. The DCHC will treat the cases which are symptomatic and will have an oxygen support system.
More than 75 ambulances will be deployed at the Centre. Full proof security has been ensured by the ITBP. Apart from peripheral and close camp security, special Quick Reaction Team is also deployed at the Centre for any sudden security requirements inside.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday visited another 1,000 bed Sardar Patel COVID Hospital in New Delhi.
This hospital has 250 ICU beds. DRDO built the hospital in the record time of 12 days with assistance from MHA, MOHFW, Armed Forces and Tata Trust. Armed Forces Medical Services team will run it and DRDO will maintain.
"I thank DRDO, Tatas and our Armed Forces Medical personnel who have risen to the occasion and helped tackle the emergency," said Shah.
Meanwhile, Health Ministry said that collective and focused efforts for containment and management of COVID-19 by the Government of India along with the States and UTs have led to the number of recovered cases among COVID-19 patients rise to 4,09,082 as of today.
During the last 24 hours, a total of 14,856 COVID-19 patients have been cured. So far, there are 1,64,268 more recovered patients than COVID-19 active cases taking the national recovery rate amongst COVID-19 to 60.77 per cent. There are 2,44,814 active cases and all are under active medical supervision.
Significantly, 21 States and UTs registered recovery rate of more than the national average.
