'Pura Ud gaya': Viral video showing moments after Dantewada Naxal attack

Hyderabad: A viral video showing moments after the Dantewada Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh that killed 10 policemen and their driver is doing the rounds on social media. The source of the video has not been verified yet but is commonly believed to be shot by a District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan.

In the video, a jawan can be seen crawling at a distance while a dead body can be seen in front of the camera. Later the camera turns towards an open road. The visuals are not prominent owing to the smoke after the blast. A voice can be heard amid gunshots saying, "Ud gaya, pura ud gaya" – meaning "the whole vehicle has blown up".

An electric cable is also seen lying in suspension above the crater that was formed owing to the blast. A crater about 10 feet deep can also be seen after the explosion. The sound of gunfire is also heard at the end of the video when the camera turns topsy-turvy.

At least 10 DRG personnel and one civilian driver were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast carried out by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada on Wednesday. The rented mini-goods van that was apparently hired by the policemen was blown up by the Naxals.

According to official sources, DRG had gone to Aranpur after getting inputs about the presence of Naxals. The area is located around 450 km from the state capital Raipur. Visuals from the spot that surfaced online showed a huge crater that has resulted on the wide road.

"10 DRG jawans and one civilian driver lost their lives in the attack...Bodies of all of them are being evacuated from the spot. Senior officers are present there. The search operation is underway," IG Bastar, P Sundarajan said.
