Chhattisgarh: Six, five of them women, die in truck-pickup collision

A speeding truck hit a pickup vehicle causing the death of six persons, five of them women and one child at Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar. The death toll may increase further as several others sustained critical bleeding injuries.

Balodabazar (Chhattisgarh) : In a ghastly road mishap, a truck and pickup collided in Balodabazar on Sunday night in which 6 persons, including five women and an innocent child, died. More than 10 people are injured and they were rushed to the hospital. In which the condition of many people is serious. The death toll may increase further. For the last few days, painful road accidents are happening continuously. Two seriously injured have been referred to Raipur Hospital.

Many people have lost their lives due to road accidents in the district. In the latest accident, a speeding truck hit the pickup with a lot of force. The horrific road accident took place on Sunday night at 10:30 pm. The truck hit the pickup vehicle in which several people are on their way to their homes. The incident took place near the village of Gonda Pulia, 6 km from Palari.

Besides the deceased, over a dozen people were injured and the condition of more than 10 people is very serious. The death toll may increase further, sources said. Treatment is going on in Community Health Center Palari and District Hospital, Balodabazar. As soon as the information about the accident was received, Palari Police Station and Health Center 108 vehicle brought the injured to the Community Health Center, Palari, where three women including a girl died during treatment.

In this accident, more than 10 people are still injured, out of which the seriously injured have been sent to the district hospital Baloda Bazar for treatment. Top police officers have reached the spot and are engaged in the investigation of the incident. After the accident, the truck is at the spot but its driver has not been found. Deputy Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh said that their first priority is proper treatment and protection of the injured. Efforts are on to nab the absconding truck driver.
