Raipur: Ramayana Saree has become the centre of attraction for the people in Chhattisgarh. Sri Ram Darbar has been woven on the pallu of Kosa silk saree in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is famous for Kosa silk sarees.

The weavers of Chandrapur in Janjgir-Champa district have launched these sarees by the name of 'Ramayana Sarees'. The design of Shri Ram's court has been woven by the handloom department. General Manager of Apex Handloom Federation A. Ayas said that Ramayana saree is being made by Parameshwari Weavers Cooperative Society of Chandrapur.

A. Ayas told that the price of Ramayana saree is Rs 15316. This saree has been woven by two artisans together in about 12 days. Earlier that it took 17 days to prepare the saree. Ramayana saree is so attractive that people are showing eagerness to buy them right away. Customers are finding this saree very attractive; it can be worn while doing poojas etc. Ramayana Saree is available in Bilasa Emporium Raipur. It can also be purchased online.

Kaushalya Collection has been launched previously

The Chhattisgarh government is developing an ambitious plan of the Ram Van Gaman Path as a national tourist destination. The handloom department too is not far behind. It is facilitating the weavers of Chandrapur to weave the designs of Shri Ram's court with its image on the pallu of Kosa sarees. A. Ayas told that earlier a new series of sarees was launched by the handloom department with the name of Kaushilya Collection. The designs of the architecture of Mata Kaushalya's temple at Chandkuri were woven on these sarees. Apart from this, the designer woven sarees of Dudhadhari Math have also been manufactured here.

1. Handloom union is also arranging for the marketing of Ramayana sarees.

2. All the tourist spots included in Ram Van Gaman Path will have exhibition-cum-sold by putting a stall of Ramayana Sarees and garments along with the Kaushalya Collection which was launched earlier.

3. The devotees and tourists visiting other religious and tourist places including Mata Kaushalya Temple will be able to buy these clothes.

4. Ramayana Sarees are being prepared by Parameshwari Weavers Cooperative Society of Chandrapur.

The weavers of Chhattisgarh have transformed Covid pandemic lull into an opportunity with their dedication and hard work. During this period, weavers have done a commendable job of incorporating the invaluable heritage of Chhattisgarh like the temple of Mata Kaushalya and the view of Lord Sri Rama's court in saris with their imagination. Chandkuri is the maternal home of Lord Rama. In view of its religious significance and fame of the temple, the handloom department had earlier launched a new collection of sarees and garments called Kaushilya Collection, which received a good response and also the weavers benefitted from this novel idea.
