Pregnant woman carried on cot for 2 km in Chhattisgarh village

A pregnant woman was carried on a cot after 112 ambulance failed to reach the village in Chhatisgarh's Korba due to poor road connectivity. The ambulance driver expressed his inability to reach the village due to the poor road condition.

Korba (Chhattisgarh): A pregnant woman was carried on a cot for more than 2 kilometres to reach the ambulance after the emergency vehicle failed to reach Titardand village under Shyang police limits in Chhattisgarh's Korba district on Wednesday due to non-motorable road.

According to sources, Shiv Kumar’s wife Amruta experienced labour pain this morning following which the family members contacted the 112 Ambulance service. However, the ambulance was forced to halt at Shyang main road as the road to Titardand village was non-motorable.

With no other options left, the family members somehow managed to carry the woman on a cot about 2 kms to reach the main road where the ambulance was stationed. She was then shifted to the nearby hospital.

The woman delivered a healthy baby at the hospital and their health condition is stated to be stable, sources added.

Meanwhile, the residents of Titardand village have alleged that despite repeated complaints, the district administration is yet to pay heed to their demand of constructing proper road their village as a result which the ambulance vehicles fail to reach at the time of emergency.
