Kawardha (Chhattisgarh): A man was critically injured after a group clash broke out between two groups over an old enmity at Kawardha town under city police limits in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. The injured person has been identified as Pankaj Mishra of the same locality.
According to sources, the incident occurred near the city police station area, where members of two groups clashed following heated arguments.
However, the situation turned ugly after the members of both the group started thrashing each other and resorted to vandalism. Following this, a security guard opened fire in the air to quell a clash between two groups of people.
During the violent face-off, members of both the groups attacked each other following which many persons suffered injuries and Mishra injured critically.
On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Cops also detained some persons for their alleged connection in this case. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the security guard who opened fire at the scene, sources said.
The critically injured person, Mishra was rushed to the local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Raipur DHH as his health condition deteriorated. His condition is stated to be critical, sources added.
