Maoists' training camp destroyed in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur

In a major operation against the Naxals, the district reserve guard (DRG) with the help of the special task force (STF) destroyed a full-fledged training camp of the Maoists in the deep forests of Narayanpur's Abujhmarh in Chhattisgarh.

Narayanpur (Chhattishgarh): In a major crackdown against the Maoists in Chhattishgarh, the special operational teams of the district reserve guard (DRG) and special task force (STF) have destroyed a full-fledged training camp of the Maoists in the deep forests of Abujhmarh in Bastar district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the police also recovered police uniform, detonators, flash Impoverished Explosive Devices, live cartridges, knives, Naxal literature, clipping of newspapers from the site.

The operation was launched following an information about the movement of Maoists in the Ghattekaal-Dengalputti forest. Acting on a tip-off, a joint police team of DRG and STF launched an intensive operation in the deep forests of located in Narayanpur's Abujhmarh, sources said.

"The recovery was made from Dengalputti forest under Orchha police station limits by a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG)," Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said.

"The operation is a huge success as it was after a long time that security forces managed to bust a camp in Abhujmad," he said.

While the security forces were encircling the area, Naxals sensed their presence and escaped leaving behind their belongings, he added.

"Explosives and materials of daily use were recovered from there. Further search of nearby areas led to seizure of arms, improvised explosive devices, rocket launchers and materials for triggering blasts. Further details of the recovery will be known once the security team returns to base," the IG informed.

The security force personnel have intensified their operations in the core Maoist areas. The Naxals had laid landmines on the way leading to the forest and the police defused them, sources added.
