Pakhanjur: Five gangsters, who would loot people by posing themselves as Naxals, have been arrested and jewellery, bank passbooks, motorbikes and a pistol were recovered from their possession, police said.
"There had been reports that some men, posing as Naxals, were looting people," a police official said, adding that people would not even inform their neighbours fearing that they might get attacked again in case they do so.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Kanker, J N Baghel told media persons here that businessmen were being looted by the gangsters and as the police got to know about it, an action was initiated and five out of eight gangsters were arrested.
"Jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, bank passbooks, three motorbikes and a pistol were recovered from them," he said, adding that efforts are on to arrest the other members of the gang.
Further probe is on, he said.
