Designer studio in Raipur joins COVID-19 fight, starts producing designer masks

Amid COVID-19 crisis, masks have become important in everyone's lives. ETV Bharat interacted with Dali Barwani, director of DB Designer Studio in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, who has come up with the idea of making designer masks so that people will not get bored of wearing masks, especially children. This is also a source of income for many of them.

Raipur: Face masks have joined the list of essentials in this situation of a Covid-19 pandemic and tapping on this opportunity are high street fashion brands and home-grown ethnic brands. A woman from Chhattisgarh's capital has produced several designed masks for use in the battle against Covid-19.

Dali Barwani, director of DB Designer Studio in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, has come up with the idea of making designer masks.

In a special interaction with ETV Bharat, Dali Barwani said, "There is no demand for designer clothes, but people are demanding masks."

"To give employment to the tailors and also for our livelihood, we are now making designer masks for people," she said.

"Also, the government has permitted the wedding of people with a maximum of 50 guests. Hence, I along with my team preparing masks in three categories which include masks for children, ladies and gents," Dali Barwani said.

"Young children do not like to wear masks, so we are preparing funky and cartoon characters mask for them. There is a huge range for ladies, which includes masks from buttons, flowers, stone hand embroidery, machine embroidery," she added.

The masks are also being prepared for the bridegroom during the wedding season, as per their wedding dress.

The cloth trader, Rahul Vidhani said, "In the beginning, the lockdown was extended all tailors were at home, no one had anything to do, and it is in the period, that they began making masks. In the initial days, anyone wore any kind of mask but the printed designer masks for children and for adults alike are now on the market."

A member of Chhattisgarh Medical Council, Dr Rakesh Gupta said that social distancing and wearing masks are the most important thing at the time of corona. By making designer masks, people are being employed, as this is also a source of their livelihood.

Notably, After the Central government has announced its first unlock, most of the people are going out for their work. Coronavirus has changed the lifestyle of the people, it has become very important to use masks to avoid its infection. Wearing a face mask will help prevent the spread of infection and prevent the individual from contracting any airborne infectious germs. As the number of cases is increasing day by day, demands for masks is also rising.
