After attaining a wedding ceremony at Sattigudi village in Janjgir-Champa village in Chhattisgarh, 135 guests have been found Covid-19 positive.

Janjgir–Champa (Chhattisgarh): A marriage ceremony in Sattigudi village of Chhattisgarh's Janjgir–Champa district became a Covid-19 super-spreader after 135 guests tested positive on Friday.

Over 400 people attended this wedding ceremony, all of whom underwent a Covid test. All those who tested positive have been put in home isolation. Health officials are in the process of testing and contact tracing.

Several residents from the neighbouring village had attended the wedding and have tested positive for Covid-19. Many of them have been admitted to the nearby government general hospital.

Chhattisgarh has been witnessing over 10,000 daily cases since the past nine days and saw its highest single-day spike of 15,256 coronavirus cases on Thursday, raising its tally to 5,01,500. With 135 deaths due to the viral infection recorded during the day, the statewide toll mounted to 5,442.

Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Friday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in separate meetings.
