Sukma (Chhattisgarh, India) : In a Naxal ambush on Sunday, a sub-inspector of the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) 165th battalion was killed while a constable was injured near Bedre camp in Jagargunda of Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Sunday, police sources said.
The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Sudhakar Reddy while the injured constable, Ramu, is being given first aid and has been airlifted for treatment by a helicopter. "Four suspects have been taken into custody and an intensive search of the surrounding area is being done by the CRPF, Cobra and District Force," the police added.
Naxalites opened fire on Bedre Camp: On Sunday, at 7 am, a company of CRPF 165th battalion had set out on a searching operation from Bedre Camp of Jagargunda police station area. When they were going towards Ursangal, the Naxalites opened fire on the soldiers. CRPF Sub Inspector Sudhakar Reddy was martyred in the encounter between security forces and Naxalites. Besides, constable Ramu was seriously injured by a bullet.
During the search after the attack, the soldiers have captured 4 suspects. After this, the security forces are carrying out an intensive search operation in the surrounding areas. The CRPF, Cobra and District level force are involved in the searching operation.
Chief Minister salutes the martyr: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has saluted the martyrdom of Sub Inspector Sudhakar Reddy in the Sukma encounter. The CM expressed grief over the incident and conveyed condolences to the family members of the victim. The Chief Minister has given instructions for proper treatment of jawan Ramu who was injured in the incident.
