Two minor sisters killed in suspected honour killing case in Bihar's Vaishali; mother held, father on the run

The mother of the deceased girls has taken the blame entirely on herself, but police suspected she is protecting her husband.

Vaishali: In a shocking incident of honor killings, two minor daughters were killed by the family in Vaishali district of Bihar, police said on Saturday. Police have taken the mother of the deceased girls into custody while their father is still at large. The incident has taken place in Sarai police station area of Vaishali.

SDPO Sadar Omprakash said that a distress call was received about the murder of two sisters in the village. Soon, a team of police was rushed to the spot for investigation, the SDPO said. He said that the father of the deceased girls fled as soon as he saw police approaching towards the house. The police team has recovered the two bodies of the two girls aged 18 and 16 as per police and sent them for post-mortem.

Police have also taken the mother of the deceased girls into custody for questioning. A police official said that during subsequent questioning, the mother of the deceased girls took the blame entirely on herself while trying to exonerate her husband. The woman has told the police that she killed both her daughters as they used to “elope often”.

She said she first killed the elder daughter followed by her younger daughter. However, police are suspecting that the woman was concocting the story in a bid to save her husband. Neeraj Singh, head representative, Sheetal Bhakurhar Panchayat said that they received information that the father of the deceased girls had killed both of them after one of them eloped with a boy fifteen days back.

Police has launched a probe into the incident and is investigating all the angles into the incident.
