Patna: The preliminary investigation in the Darbhanga railway station blast case revealed that terrorists had intended to blast the Secunderabad-Darbhanga express, said sources. As per sources, one of the arrested terrorists, Mohammad Nasir Malik revealed that they had made IED with the help of nitric acid and sulfuric acid in order to blast the train.

The plan was to explode the IED in the bundle of clothes so that the whole train catches fire. However, Malik said that they made a mistake while making the IED due to which blast could no take place on a large scale. He told authorities that both acids could not mix with each other on time due to which the major blast could not take place, added sources.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday also claimed to have arrested two terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba for their alleged involvement in the case. Mohammad Salim Ahmed and Kafil, both residents of Kairana in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, would be produced before a special NIA court in Patna after obtaining a transit remand from the competent court of UP, an official of the premier investigation agency said.

The case was originally registered last month at Bihar's Darbhanga relating to an explosion in a parcel on platform number one of Darbhanga railway station. The parcel had arrived in Darbhanga aboard Secunderabad-Darbhanga express. Earlier, Mohammad Imran Malik and his brother Mohammad Nasir Malik, allegedly associated with terror outfit LeT, were arrested on Wednesday night for their alleged involvement in the parcel blast at Darbhanga railway station.
