New Delhi: Ahead of Assembly polls in Bihar due in October, Congress leader Akhilesh Singh on Thursday said that the voters will vote for the grand alliance in Bihar and not for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
While speaking to ETV Bharat on the dispute between Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata United Dal (JDU), Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Singh said, "The fight is between them and they will solve it on their own. I can't comment on their alliance facing trouble."
Taking a jibe on BJP leader Sanjay Paswan on the statement he made saying that the party is capable of winning the elections on its own, Singh said, "He is a known politician and such statement from him will justify whether BJP's alliance with JDU is in trouble or not."
This statement comes on the backdrop of Bihar assembly polls and the fight between the alliance. On Wednesday, BJP MLC, Sanjay Paswan said "People of Bihar want to see a BJP leader as Bihar Chief Minister. BJP is the strongest and most active party in the state."
Adding to this, Singh said "People don't want the government who is destroying the society and economy of our country. So, this assembly polls the voters have made up their mind to vote for the grand alliance."
When the reporter asked whether JDU will join the grand alliance, Singh said, "It's on Congress's Interim President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to decide. "
On December 31, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had clarified that "all was well" between the two alliance partners, JDU and BJP, in the state."All is well, there is no problem," said Kumar in response to a question on the BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar.
The remarks by Kumar came after JDU vice president Prashant Kishor blazed gun over the alliance by asserting that his party was the senior partner in the alliance and must get more seats.
The Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi had criticised Kishor for his statement and said that the 2020 Assembly elections will be fought under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Nitish Kumar.
Bihar is scheduled to go to Assembly polls in October this year.
