Mission Smart City: Muzzafarpur Municipal Corporation to purchase Rs 50 crore mechanism for cleanliness

Muzzafarpur Nagar Nigam in North Bihar is all set to make it the cleanest city in India. Determined with this mission, the municipal corporation is purchasing a smart mechanism worth Rs 50 crore for bolstering the cleanliness drive very shortly.

New Delhi: Muzzafarpur Nagar Nigam in North Bihar is all set to make it the cleanest city in India. Determined with this mission, the municipal corporation is purchasing a smart mechanism worth Rs 50 crore for bolstering the cleanliness drive very shortly.

"We are concentrating on cleanliness drive. Officials of 100 smart cities have visited us and they want to adopt some of our initiatives. We are also purchasing mechanism worth Rs 40-50 crore for cleanliness," said Vishal Anand, additional municipal commissioner of Muzzafarpur Municipal Corporation to ETV Bharat.

He said that wastes in Muzzafarpur are being recycled for its use in the farming sector."We are going ahead with the smart city mission. We have already implemented several projects and some are in the offing," said Anand.

Along with Patna, Muzzafarpur has been selected as the smart city in the 3rd list of the government of India's smart city mission. The smart city mission was initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in 2015.Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to make 100 smart cities across India.Interestingly, the Bihar governmenthad in last year allocated Rs 200 crore for the survey and detailed project report in making Muzzafarpur a smart city. Additional Municipal Commissioner Anand said that the Integrated Command and Control System in Muzzafarpur will also be set up soon.
