Lockdown forces couple to marry on video call in Bihar

A couple based out of Bihar’s Patna solemnized their marriage through a video call amid the nation-wide lockdown. The bride was in Patna, while the groom in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The ceremony took place in the presence of relatives from both sides.

Patna (Bihar): Amid the nation-wide lockdown, a couple based out of Bihar’s Patna solemnized their Nikah (marriage) through a video call.

The bride was in Patna, while the groom in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The ceremony took place in the presence of relatives from both sides.

According to sources, Saadia Nasreen, daughter of Late Haji Muhammad Alauddin, was to be married on March 23 with the Ghaziabad's resident Danish Raza and all preparations for the wedding were done.

The community hall was also booked in Patna's Haroon Nagar and invitation cards were sent to all the relatives, but due to lockdown marriage could not take place as planned. So, the couple tried a new way and got married online.

The video of the marriage, which was shot on the bride's side, has also gone viral.

The video shows that at the end of the ritual, the bride is taken towards the TV screen where she sees her husband for the first time after the wedding.

It is to be noted that the country is under the complete lockdown and according to the rules of the lockdown, no social gatherings of any kind is permitted.
