Lockdown: Daily wager struggles to feed 3 wives and 12 children

The deadly coronavirus outbreak in the country is not only affecting the business class but also badly hitting the daily wagers in different parts of the city. Mohd Hussain, a daily wage worker in Bihar is facing challenges to feed his family of three wives and 12 children amid the nationwide lockdown.

Arwal (Bihar): Amid the nationwide lockdown imposed to flatten the curve of COVID-19 infection, daily wage labourers and workers are facing challenges to earn their livelihood. The COVID-19 outbreak across the country is not only affecting the business class but also badly hitting the daily wagers in different parts of the city.

Daily wager struggles to feed 3 wives and 12 children

A resident of Bihar's Arwal district, Mohd Hussain is facing tougher times during the lockdown as he has a family of three wives and a dozen children to take care of.

Hussain, a daily wage worker used to do meager jobs and feed his family, but now he is struggling to afford his bread and butter amid lockdown. His first marriage took place in Kurtha village in Arwal district. The second marriage in the Gaya district and the third in Khudwa in Aurangabad district in Bihar. He has 12 children and they all live together.

However, according to the district administration, his family is being provided ration regularly. Hussain's family also has a ration card, but due to a large number of members, the ration provided to them falls short of the demand.

The deadly coronavirus has claimed the lives of over 239 people in the country and around 60 people are infected with the virus in Bihar.

The 21-day lockdown is supposed to continue till April 14th. Though, speculations have arised that it can be extended keeping in view the surge in cases across the country.
