New Delhi: The grand alliance today announced the division of seats for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in which the Left parties have got 29 seats.

There are three leftist parties mainly the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) CPI(ML) in Bihar which have a good cadre base.

In the previous assembly election, the left parties had contested separately and did not win. In the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the left parties fielded candidates against each other, due to which once again they failed miserably.

Talking to ETV Bharat, senior CPM leader and Bihar in-charge Hanan Molla said his party wanted to contest 17 seats. The CPI had demanded 20 seats and the CPI-ML 30 seats but when the three parties met in Delhi, it was decided that they would not be any differences over seat-sharing and they would contest the elections together.

It has now been decided that the party will field its candidates in places where they have a stronghold in the 29 given seats.

The CPM will field its candidates in Vibhutipur assembly seat in Samastipur district, Matihani in Begusarai, Pipra in East Champaran, and Manjhi assembly seat in Saran.

Molla believes that this time coming with all the left parties and contesting elections with the Grand Alliance will lead to better results. The CPM has been instrumental in bringing the Left parties together and in the meeting held to form the Left Democratic Front, it was decided that all parties will go to the polls together and will not break this alliance due to the number of seats.

CPI General Secretary D Raja had also made it clear in his conversation with ETV India that his party's main goal would be to defeat the NDA.

Molla said that the Left cadre of the party is important in the elections and is capable of transferring votes. The grand alliance will definitely benefit from this and this time they will be able to bring changes in Bihar.

On the other hand on the reports of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) going out of the NDA, the CPM leader said that the NDA will definitely suffer.
