Ranchi (Jharkhand): A tweet of former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has stirred hornet’s nest in Bihar and Jharkhand politics. Sushil Kumar Modi in the tweet has alleged that former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is currently lodged in Keli Bungalow of RIMS after his conviction in the fodder scam and is currently undergoing treatment, is making phone calls to NDA MLAs and is offering them the ministerial berths to switch their sides. The issue rocked the Bihar Assembly today, while political slugfest has also started in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.
ALLEGATIONS OF VIOLATING PRISON MANUAL
Sushil Kumar Modi in his tweet has claimed that Lalu Prasad Yadav is calling the NDA MLAs from Ranchi and is offering them ministries. Sushil Kumar Modi has mentioned a number in his tweet, from which a call was made to MLA Lalan Paswan. According to Sushil Kumar Modi, when he called that number, he spoke to Lalu Prasad Yadav, which means that the jail manual is also being violated.

‘IRFAN ANSARI’S MOBILE NUMBER’
The number Sushil Kumar Modi has mentioned in his tweet is the number of Irfan Ansari, who is with Lalu Prasad Yadav as his attendant. Irfan Ansari’s phone number has been in divert mode since yesterday evening. At the moment, Irfan Ansari has gone underground. Lalu Prasad Yadav has three attendants. Irfan Ansari is also the state unit General Secretary of the RJD. Irfan Ansari describes himself as the adopted son of Lalu Prasad Yadav.
WHAT DOES THE JAIL ADMINISTRATION SAY
If we talk about the jail administration of Ranchi, so far no statement has been issued in this regard. However, Jail IG Birendra Bhushan told ETV Bharat over the phone that this matter is in his cognizance and they are getting it investigated. If the violation of the jail manual is found, action will be taken.
LALU IS BEING MALIGNED FOR MAKING HEADLINES
Senior vice president of Jharkhand RJD unit Rajesh Yadav told ETV Bharat that Sushil Kumar Modi has always been a conspirator against Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rajesh Yadav believes that the bail petition of Lalu Prasad Yadav has to be heard in the High Court. The entire controversy is a ploy to give a new colour to the whole case.
RJD spokesperson Smita Lakda and Ranchi District unit president Abdul Ghaffar Ansari hit back at Sushil Kumar Modi while talking to ETV Bharat. They said that Sushil Kumar Modi has always been doing politics in the name of Lalu Prasad Yadav. His role in Bihar has been as an assistant of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Sushil Kumar Modi has no support base in Bihar. For this reason, after the assembly elections, the BJP also showed him the way out of power. Now Sushil Kumar Modi is not getting anything to do. As a result, he has tried to make headlines in the name of Lalu Prasad Yadav once again.
DEMAND TO SHIFT YADAV TO JAIL
Jharkhand unit BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has demanded to shift Lalu Prasad Yadav from Keli Bungalow to Hotwar jail, while talking to ETV Bharat. He said that Lalu Prasad Yadav is misusing the facilities for politics. The truth of the allegations can be investigated by recovering the call record details of the mobile number. Cases of violation of jail manual have been raised by the BJP earlier as well but no action was taken by the State government.
WHAT DOES THE JAIL MANUAL SAY?
According to the jail manual, during treatment, the prisoner has to follow all the rules of the jail even in the hospital. Along with the prisoner, his attendant also cannot keep a mobile phone. The number and the day of the meeting the people are also decided. The day of meeting for Lalu Prasad Yadav has been fixed for Saturday. However, under special circumstances, close relatives can be allowed anytime to meet him on the permission of the jail administration.
Lalu Prasad Yadav has been awarded separate punishments in four cases of the fodder scam. Hearing in the fifth case is going on. Lalu Prasad Yadav has about 11 diseases including high blood pressure and sugar. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been in jail since 23 December 2017. On 17 March 2018, he was admitted to the RIMS and then to AIIMS in Delhi when his health deteriorated.
Since then, he has been undergoing treatment in the paying ward of RIMS. He has been shifted to the bungalow of the RIMS director for fear of the corona infection in the past. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s bail plea is scheduled to be heard on November 27 in the Jharkhand High Court. He has got bail in two cases registered in Chaibasa and the Deoghar treasury case. If he gets the bail in the fourth case, he will be able to come out of jail.
