Patna: Former chief minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday slammed the JD(U)-BJP government and said that the apathy of the government led to the floods in many parts of the state, including Patna.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Manjhi said, "Floods in the state is the result of the government's failure. No matter how many claims the government makes, but the way the drainage system has been made is not right."
He alleged that nothing has been done to improve the drainage and civic system.
"People these days are made to travel in the deluge. The government is busy in just making excuses," he added.
Manjhi said that the government should make all possible efforts to prevent contagious diseases from spreading in waterlogged areas.
On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday claimed that climate change has caused floods in the state. He said climate change has affected several places across the world as well.
On Thursday, Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert in Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai and Khagaria districts of Bihar for October 3 and 4.
