Bihar: Free bus service for women on Rakshabandhan

Women in Bihar can avail free rides on August 22 (Rakshabandhan) as the State Road Transport Corporation has decided to start special bus services on the occasion.

Patna: Bihar state road transport corporation will kick start special bus services for women on the occasion of Rakshabandhan on August 22. Women can take the advantage of free services from August 21st midnight till August 22nd midnight.

State transport Minister Sheela Kumari said that special facilities will be provided on Raksha Bandhan to encourage women's participation in city bus services. She added that many organizations have also requested free travel on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.

Transport Secretary, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that a total of 125 city bus services are being operated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation in the capital. Out of 125 buses, 70 buses are operationalised on CNG and 14 are electric buses.

Shyam Kishore, administrator of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation stated that women of the city have been already getting special exemptions on a monthly pass for travelling in the city buses. CCTV cameras have also been installed in the buses for the safety of the women, he added.
