Khagaria: Three rifles and 90 live cartridges were stolen from the Revenue Circle office in Bihar's Khagaria district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The theft took place when four Home Guard jawans were sleeping inside a room at the Alauli Circle office in the district. The jawans woke up to a rude shock in the morning, when they found three rifles and 90 live cartridges missing.

The incident has put police officials in a tizzy. Upon receiving the information, Khagaria Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) rushed to the spot to investigate the incident. Sensing some foul play, the SDPO grilled the Home Guard jawans. The circumstances which led to the theft appeared to be 'fishy'.

Sources said that the out of four rifles, only three were stolen by the thieves. Three sets of boxes containing 90 bullets were taken away by the miscreants while one set containing bullets and one rifle were not stolen. Even the CCTV camera was also found tampered with giving enough hint that some foul play in the incident could not be ruled out, added the source.
