Patna: People in Bihar who work as labourers are once again leaving the state in search of livelihood, according to reports. Hundreds of workers returned home as several states ordered lockdowns to control the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak in April leaving them without jobs.
The exodus comes despite assurance by the government in Bihar that they would be given jobs in the state.

Sushil Kumar, a labourer, said, "returned home due to fear of corona, but it became difficult to run the family due to lack of work. There are seven people in my family. There is a lot of problem in getting food. I have finally decided to go to Haryana to earn money. The decision has been taken."
Another migrant labourer, Abhishek said, "I am a resident of Arwal. I was very fond of studies. Passed matriculation too but due to lack of money, I could not study further. There are old parents in the house. They have to go to earn for their care and maintenance. I am compelled to go outside the state and earn a livelihood."
