Bihar minister's absurd take on unemployment

On being asked about the BJP's pre-poll promise of 19 lakh jobs in Bihar, state labour minister Jivesh Mishra, possibly referring to the varna system, said that according to Sanatan Dharma, the to-be-born child's line of work was decided in the mother's womb itself.

"In Sanatan Dharma, the word 'unemployment' never existed. The system was such that the to-be-born child's line of work was decided in the mother's womb itself," the minister said, possibly referring to the varna system.

Mishra was speaking at a seminar on self-sufficiency in Bihar's Vaishali district when he made the absurd remarks.
