Bihar flood: Waterlogging throws life of doctors out of gear

The campus of a COVID centre in Supaul is flooded with water till knees. In such a situation, the health workers on duty here are facing a lot of problems. Doctors and nurses are coming to this centre riding on handcarts.

Supaul (Bihar): While every state of India is fighting against coronavirus pandemic, the floods in Bihar has created chaos this year also. In such a situation, a picture has emerged from the COVID Centre in Nirmali subdivision of Supaul in Bihar district, which is making everyone salute the spirit of doctors and raise questions towards the Government.

After heavy rains and the overflowing of the Kosi tributary Tilayuga, waterlogging has been witnessed in the Nirmali subdivision of Supaul district. In such a gloomy situation, the COVID Care Center located here is also suffering from this waterlogging problem.

Heavy rain and acute waterlogging several parts of Supaul in Bihar have thrown life out of gear and due to which the doctors and all healthcare workers are facing a lot of problems.

During the Corona period where flowers had been showered from the sky for the doctors. At the same time, there is a flood in Bihar, due to which the difficulties can be seen in their path. But it is the passion of the doctors that they are leaving the house to fulfil their duties even in this flood situation. Doctors and nurses are resorting to hand carts to protect themselves from knee-deep water. The doctors and nurses here sit on the cart and visit the COVID Care Center.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dr Amarendra Kumar, said, "For the last two-three days, there is more than knee-deep water in the premises. How should someone reach COVID Center in such a situation? That is why we had to resort to hand carts. Nurses are also facing difficulties in going inside. We go inside by crossing the water stored in the premises on a handcart."

"It may not be wrong to say that mosquitoes will also start coming after waterlogging. In a situation of Global Corona pandemic, such a plight of the COVID Care Center is not favourable from anywhere. High officials need to take a serious decision on this issue," he said.

It is pertinent to be mentioned here that the constant fluctuations in the water level of the Kosi river have increased the concern of the people about the embankment. In Supaul, the risk of flooding has increased due to a rise in the water level of Tilayuga river.

Along with this, the flood situation has arisen in Umbarpur and Kunauli areas due to the increase in the water level of Surasar, Gada and Kharo river. However, the news of relief is that the water level of the Kosi river has decreased. That is, with the decreasing water level, the risk of flooding in many areas also seems to decrease.
