Patna (Bihar): Around 20 staff members at state Governor Phagu Chauhan's house tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Earlier today, state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal also tested positive for the viral disease along with his wife and mother.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had on Tuesday said that 85 people tested positive at CM Nitish Kumar's residence, of which 75 were BJP leaders.
"As many as 85 people have tested positive at CM Nitish Kumar's residence out of which 75 are state BJP leaders after a virtual rally was held. The staff of Deputy CM Sushil Modi, Chief Secretary, and many state officials have also tested positive," he had tweeted.
However, state deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi later clarified that only 24 Bjp workers had tested positive for COVID-19 in Patna, not 75 as reported by some news channels.
In view of the continuing large scale spread of COVID-19 occurring in almost all the districts, the state government re-imposed coronavirus lockdown till July 31.
Only emergency and essential services shops have been instructed to remain open.
The number of corona positive cases in Bihar has reached 18,853. The state has been reporting over a thousand cases for the last three days. Several IAS and IPS officers have also been tested positive for the virus.
