Bangladesh Airlines flight force-lands at Patna airport after technical glitch

After the airport authorities at Patna gave the green light, the flight successfully landed at around 12 pm. A senior official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said all passengers in the aircraft are safe.

Patna: A Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft from Dhaka to Kathmandu with 70 passengers onboard made an emergency landing at Patna's Jayprakash Narayan Airport on Friday after it developed a technical snag mid-flight. The aircraft was flying over the Patna airport when its pilot experienced some technical snag.

After the airport authorities at Patna gave the green light, the flight successfully landed at around 12 pm. A senior official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said all passengers in the aircraft are safe.

According to Directorate General of Civil Aviation , Flight 371 of Bangladesh which was supposed to land in Kathmandu from Dhaka, was diverted to Patna due to a technical problem. The people on board the plane were in panic after being informed that the plane had to be made an emergency landing in Patna. A major accident was averted due to the fact that the malfunction was detected on time. The passengers in the plane breathed a sigh of relief after the safe landing, sources said. According to the information received, the technical team is trying to fix the technical glitch.

Local sources said the sudden landing of the flight has sparked speculation among people. On June 19 last year, a Spicejet plane, which was hit by a bird, made an emergency landing at the airport. All 183 passengers along with two infants had deboarded safely then and an alternate flight has been arranged by SpiceJet airlines for the passengers.
