Two died, 50 injured in various road accidents in Assam

Travelling from lower parts of Assam to the upper parts of the state for NRC re-verification process, two people died and over 50 injured in different road accidents. The hearing centres are 300-400 km away from the district headquarters and the people have to travel long distances.

Assam: Two people died and more than 50 injured in different road accidents in Assam as they travelled to appear before the authority for NRC re-verification process.

NRC re-verification notice was issued to around 25 thousand people and they were asked to reach the hearing centre within 24 hours after receiving the notice.

The hearing centres are 300-400 km away from the district headquarters and the people have to travel from lower Assam to upper Assam for the NRC re-verification

Earlier, the Supreme Court directed that the hearing should be organised in the districts itself. The directions made in the notices are framed as per NRC state coordinator Hajela’s report to the Supreme Court.

Hajela had mentioned it in the report that 27% re-verification has already been done in response to the state and Centre’s demand for 20% re-verification in border districts and other districts having unusual population growth.

Two people died and more than 50 are injured in various road accidents in Assam while travelling to appear before the authority for the NRC re-variofication process.  With just a few days left for the NRC final draft publication, re-verifaction notice has been isuued to approx 25 thousands people and ordered them to reach the hearing cerntre within 24hours itself . It is to be noted that the hearing centres are 300-400km away from the district hadquaters and they need to travel from lower Assam to upper Assam made people clueless what and how to proceed. Earlier Supreme Court has directed that the hearing should be orgainsed in the same district itslef.

While travelling from Lower Assam to Upper Assam three accidents occured on 37 national highway where two people lost their lives and 50people are injured.
