Agartala: Vishwa Hindu Parishad Tripura state president Chandrasekhar Kar was summoned by the police on Thursday for interrogation related to a case of abduction that took place in the Bishalgarh area under Sepahijala district.

Kar had been interrogated for hours at the New Capital Complex police station. The incident, however, has drawn sharp resentment from the Hindu outfit as Purna Chandra Mandal, the organizational secretary of VHP condemned the action by the police and asked the administration to think twice before harassing people associated with VHP.

“Whenever the police ask for any help, our people cooperate. This is why keeping faith in the law and order machinery our state president went there but he stayed put in the police station for hours. This is unacceptable. We condemn this and seek clarification from the police as well as the government on the matter," said Mandal.

Mandal further said that Kar kept on saying that a girl from the Muslim community was abducted from somewhere and the whole police department was running after VHP leaders when many of our girls were trapped through 'love jihad' the police department keeps mum.

"Many girls are being trapped in the vicious trap of love jihad but the police did little to check it. On the other hand, our leader who hardly knows anything about the kidnapping has been summoned and insulted for hours in the police station," said Mandal.

A police team from Bishalgarh led by SDPO arrived at the NCC police station to interrogate Kar. The VHP president also runs a vernacular daily called Rashtriya Kantha.
