Tezpur: While the nation is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, one injured Kargil war hero who hails from Tezpur of Assam hopes to don uniform again to serve his nation.
Ghanakanta Keot was attacked on 22nd May 1999 by Pakistani soldiers in Kargil war. He along with five other soldiers got injured and went for treatment.
After recovering from 3-month treatment, Keot expressed his desire to serve his nation again.
While recalling the old days, Keot shared his experience when the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and defence minister George Fernandez visited to see him. "It will take two months to recover and I'll go to the battlefield again," he said to them.
Keot was honoured at the headquarter of Tezpur Gajraj War Memorial.
