Nellore (Andhra Pradesh): Gandhamalla Umashankar surprises all through rolling out the wondrous artefacts from wooden pieces, pins, pencil and chalk pieces. A government school teacher in Nellore district, he has been involved in preparing awe-inspiring toys and artefacts like temples, chariots, horses and other things in glass bottles.
He draws pictures of national leaders on chalk pieces, famous temples by using pencil graphite, tiny images on sharp edges of pencils and so on. In addition to preparing noted leaders on dry banyan leaves, he has made images such as school, Gandhiji, rotating wheel, and some Hindi letters-inside bulbs to build awareness among students.
This artist has recreated the world-renowned Eiffel Tower by using 600 pencil leads. This structure really surprised all as it is just 16 cm wide and 38 cm long.
To roll it out the teacher worked for 60 days- 10 hours a day and got his name into India Book of Records.
He also surprised many by creating images of the National flag, Tirumala Temple, Kedarnath Temple, Lord Vinayaka, Jesus Christ, Rabindranath Tagore, Sachin Tendulkar, cricket trophies and so on.
He also carves Bonsai special (dwarf) trees without any expenditure. Umashankar has installed the dwarf-sized trees of palm and banyan trees in flower vases which are actually huge in size.
This has created a beautiful and green environment in his house. And of course, the teacher turned artist offers a positive message for green cover and a pollution-free environment.
He has won several accolades and holds records in — India book, RH book, state book, Limca book, Tamil book, unique record, wonder book record, Telugu book, and Everest book of records.
