Visakhapatnam: A 60-year-old man has been detained by the police for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Narasapuram village in Andhra Pradesh's Kasimkota Mandal on Sunday.
The accused person has been identified as J Eruku Naidu of the same village.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s mother, the accused lured the girl with chocolates to his house and raped her.
He warned the girl of dire consequences if she discloses the matter to anybody and left the spot. Despite the warning, the victim gathered courage and narrated her ordeal to her mother following which a complaint was lodged with the Anakapalli Disha police on May 23.
Anakapalli Disha Police Station DSP Kumar Swamy confirmed that they received a complaint in this regard. He said that the accused, Naidu, has been detained.
The investigation into the matter is underway. The accused will be forwarded to court after the medical examination. The statement of the victim has been recorded, he added.
