Visakhapatnam: Fraudsters are laying a trap on gullible people to sell their kidneys. Two more cases surfaced in Visakhapatnam in which people were cheated. On April 14, a person hailing from Kondapalli town in NTR district of the state underwent kidney removal without taking permission from the organ donation authorities. The state government has constituted an Inquiry Committee to probe the incident. But, within 15 days, another incident came to light in Visakhapatnam. On Wednesday, the victim lodged a complaint with the PM Palem police station in Visakhapatnam.
According to reports, two persons convinced the cab driver G Vinay Kumar (32), a resident of Vambe Colony in Madhurawada area of the city, to donate his kidney after knowing about the financial hardships. Vinay was in contact with Kamaraju (44), an employee working in a private company. Kamaraju assured the victim that he will get Rs.8.50 lakhs for selling the kidney. Vinay then went to a private hospital in the city and underwent the necessary medical tests to donate a kidney.
But when Vinay's parents came to know about their son's plan, he was sent to their relative's house in Hyderabad. Kamaraju threatened Vinay with dire consequences when he did not come as per schedule. He also threatened Vinay's parents. Finally, succumbing to the pressure, Vinay went to a private hospital in Pendurthi area of the city on Monday where his kidney was removed.
